Happy Tartan Day! This cover for the February 1939 issue of McCall Advance Paris Styles celebrates tartan and colour.

Illustrator Blanche Rothschild gives her model a green handbag and long green hat feathers to match the green in her (mostly red) tartan jacket.

The pattern is McCall 3077, a dress and strong-shouldered jacket that was also shown in “important plaid” when it was promoted as part of the Spring 1939 Singer Wardrobe.
